Training Day

The most mortifying thing happened today. People can be so catty and petty! I was sitting in an auditorium waiting for a PD to start, and another teacher from my school was suddenly standing near me. I asked what her name was again, and if she wanted to join me. I'd never really talked to her, and she seemed kind of unfriendly to new teachers. Today was the worst! She said she was looking to see if anyone else was there...she must not have seen anyone because she asked me to put her bag on the seat next to me. Then she went to the bathroom.

When she came back, she said another teacher was there now and asked me for her bag. I just looked at her, gave her the bag...she said "thank you darlin'" and went off to sit with the other teacher she knew apparently. Leaving me alone. It felt like a scene from the Mean Girls movie. I'm glad I didn't say anything then. Maybe I will later when I'm calmer.

And they wonder why the atmosphere there is so toxic.
